November7s Special Open Lecture: MANGA and the Islamic World: Behind the Scenes of “The Crescent Kingdom – Tales of Ottoman 1001 Nights”

MANGA and ANIME, once uniquely Japanese, have gained global recognition and are now a medium of self-expression within the Muslim world.
In November’s Special Open Lecture, Tokyo Camii Institute welcomes Aoi Momoyama, author of The Crescent Kingdom – Tales of Ottoman 1001 Nights, and Arimasa Nishikawa, chief editor of Comic Bunch Kai (Shinchōsha).
The author and editor will discuss from their respective perspectives how “Islamic worldviews,” “Ottoman culture,” and “intercultural understanding” can be portrayed through the medium of MANGA.
This will be a valuable opportunity to examine the intersection of the “Islamic world” and “MANGA expression,” and explore new creative possibilities.
We look forward to your participation in this enriching dialogue.
